Finding your size without a shop
A sheet of paper, a pencil and a wall will get you closer than any conversion chart.
Dara Whitfield · Client Care · 5 min read

Shoe sizing is not standardised, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling a conversion chart. What is standardised is your foot. Measure it once, properly, and every purchase after that gets easier.
The measurement
- Do it in the evening — feet swell through the day by up to half a size.
- Wear the socks you would wear with the shoes.
- Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe. It is not always the big toe.
- Measure from the wall to the mark in millimetres. Repeat for the other foot.
Use the larger of the two measurements. Almost everyone has one foot slightly longer than the other, and it is far easier to fill a little space than to create it.
Reading the number
Our size guide converts foot length in millimetres directly to EU, UK and US sizes. Note that it lists foot length, not shoe length — the shoe itself is longer, because a last needs room ahead of the toes.
“Between sizes, size up in the boots and down in the loafers. The unlined shapes will give; the welted ones will not.”
What each shape does
COURT and ARC run narrow. TERRAIN and RIDGE are built with a thicker sock in mind and run generous. Everything else sits true to the measurement. Each product page carries a fit note under the size selector.
If the first pair is wrong, exchanges are free within thirty days. Nobody gets it right every time, including us.
